My Story
My appreciation and enthusiasm for design began back when I was an infant. Whenever I drove around town with my parents I would identify businesses by their font, color scheme or logo. I come from a family with many talents, including opera singers, cooks and others are artists. I fall in the artist category.
I began my journey on the web about 2014. My path into this career probably isn't like most. I never went to school to be a graphic designer or web developer, I learned on the job as a graphic intern. I contemplated attending schools such as the Art Institute of Seattle. After looking around I realized that I was surrounded by people who had decades of online experience that could mentor me. I ended up working for my father's business as a graphic design intern. He owned a content marketing company called Cranberry News Marketing where I was mentored by his team.
Graphic Design
Before I discovered my passion for all things CSS, I designed brand identity, trade show collateral and booths and product packaging. I was involved in creating the intro and outro thumbnails and converting the podcasts to a video format.
Web Design & Development
My design aesthetic is clean, responsive and lightweight. Since the "client is always right", I sometimes find myself implementing a client driven design that I do not like, but I do so with a careful eye to the parts that I can influence like responsive design and speed. I quickly became a huge fan of Sanity, a headless content management system. Not only do I enjoy building sites with Sanity, I find it easy to train clients to use it. The interface is clean, intuitive. The content can be easity scalable due to their Composable Content Cloud. I have been able to work with the static site generator Astro on several occasions where speed and caching were paramount.
